The ketchup shortage is just unbelievable because, in the last year, people won’t been able to get it. Ketchup package shortages in restaurants in the USA, and people don’t have any interest in going for food.
We noticed this happening in July of the previous year. We said, can you think of the day that restaurants will be saying, “Give me pouches instead of bottles, because people will still not feel confident enough to squeeze bottles that they don’t know who squeezed them before”? That’s why we will make a significant change to the mix. It can take about one year to purchase, install and start running a new line of Ketchup.

Who Faces Ketchup Shortage in 2022?
After enduring a whole year of closures, safety worries, and stop-and-go openings, many American restaurants are now faced with the problem of a widespread shortage of Ketchup. Restaurants are struggling to secure the staple of their table following the Covid-19 scandal that shattered the condiment’s worldwide order. Managers are employing generic varieties, pouring large quantities of Ketchup into individual cups before heading to the aisles at Costco for alternatives.
“We’ve been hunting high and low,” said Chris Fuselier, owner of the Denver-based Blake Street Tavern, who has had difficulty keeping the condiment in stock for the season.
The pandemic has transformed several sit-down eateries into takeaway experts, making individual ketchup packets the main food currency for big chains and mom-and-pop eateries. Per business-to-restaurant plate IQ, prices for packets have increased by 13% since January 2020, while their sales have grown exponentially compared to tabletop bottles.
Fast-food giants, too, are asking for packets. Long John Silver’s LLC, a 700-unit chain, required the Ketchup from a different supplier due to the influx of demand. The switch to packets has raised costs which cost customers of the Louisville, Ky.-based company an extra half million dollars, its executives told the media, because one-serve is more expensive than bulk.

We’re pretty big in the field of agriculture. Not just tomatoes, however, we also grow beans. We buy 30 percent out of the navy beans around the world. We are also quite big on cucumbers. We buy lots of tomatoes, and we grow lots of tomatoes. It’s around 9 billion tomatoes every calendar year.
That’s insane. We started a business that makes seeds and sells them. We currently sell around 40% of the seeds around the globe for tomatoes, which can be used to make other products, such as sauces for pasta or ketchup, as well as other items. Therefore, we have a lot of knowledge of tomatoes.
