Is Chevy Bolt Discontinued? A battery-electric subcompact hatchback manufactured by General Motors under the Chevrolet brand is known as the Chevrolet Bolt or Chevrolet Bolt EV. It was created and produced in collaboration with LG Corporation. Opel Ampera-e, a rebadged version in continental Europe, was discontinued after 2018.
The 2017 Bolt went on sale in California in December 2016 and was released to the rest of the US and other regions in 2017. In 2017, the Bolt was the second-best-selling plug-in vehicle in the US. By the end of 2020, the Bolt/Ampera-e family had sold 112,000 units worldwide combined.
General Motors future may be based on electric vehicles. GM may discontinue the Chevy Bolt to focus on the manufacturing of EVs. GM does not see a long-term lot with Bolt now. GM is unsure about discontinuing the Chevy Bolt, but the option is still in consideration.
“Will Bolt be in our portfolio ‘x’ years from now? No, it won’t,” Steve Majoros, Chevy’s vice president of marketing, said. “It’s a great product right now. It will be with us for some time. But as we scale and ramp volume here, portfolios change.”

When will General Motors stop making Chevy Bolt?
It is not yet confirmed when GM will discontinue the Chevy Bolt. As GM is preparing to go full electric shortly, production of the Chevy Bolt might be in continuation simultaneously for some time. There are chances of some modifications and changes in the model of Bolt.
GM produces the Bolt cars at the Orion Assembly factory in Orion Township. But GM is modernizing the factory to begin building the Silverado EV and electric GMC Sierra at Orion in 2024 as part of a $7 billion investment in manufacturing in Michigan that was announced earlier this year. According to GM, the Bolt EV and EUV will continue to be produced “during the plant’s conversion.”
We can assume that this conversion of the manufacturing plant will lead to the discontinuation of the Chevy Bolt. GM is saying that they might continue the Bolt production along with the EV production, but the future is uncertain as the decisions. If EV production occurs at Orion Manufacturing Plant, Chevy Bolt might be discontinued by 2024.
Chevy Bolt will be Cheaper in the coming years
We are not sure about Bolt discontinuation, but we are confident about one thing. GM is slashing prices for the Chevy Bolt. The demand for electric vehicles is increasing with time. That is why every other car industry is switching to EVs, SUVs and Crossovers. This shift in technology and demand has been the reason for the discontinuation of several iconic cars.
GM is not ceasing the Bolt production for now, but it is lowering the prices in the market. According to Chevrolet, the 2023 Bolt EV and EUV are less expensive than their 2022 counterparts. The base price for the 2023 Chevy Bolt EV is $26,595, including destination fees, while the base price for the Bolt EUV is $28,195.
GM unveiled the Chevrolet Bolt EUV Redline Edition last month. It adds gloss-black 17-inch wheels with red highlights, a black-and-red Bolt EUV emblem, and other red exterior features for just $495. Additionally, it features inner black leather upholstery with red accent stitching.
