Mahindra Marazzo discontinued

Mahindra Marazzo discontinued: Are you still buying it in 2023?

Is Mahindra Marazzo discontinued? With new SUVs like the XUV700 and Scorpio-N, Mahindra has enjoyed an excellent past period. Large booking backlogs exist for several of Mahindra’s vehicles. Sadly, not every car succeeds to the same degree. As a result, Mahindra has no choice but to stop production of one such vehicle, the Marazzo. About the Marazzo’s future, Mahindra has remained quiet.

It was expected to be canceled because Mahindra was unwilling to modernize the engine to follow BS6 Stage 2 requirements. The newly released Thar RWD uses the same engine made by Mahindra. The engine should thus keep running. But Marazzo’s sales have consistently been poor.

Only 141 Marazzos were sold by Mahindra in February 2023. So, Mahindra’s best action is to stop producing the Marazzo to free up much-needed production space for its other SUVs. Let’s discuss Mahindra Marazzo 2023 in this article.

Mahindra Marazzo overview

Mahindra Marazzo discontinued

Since 2018, Mahindra & Mahindra has been producing the Mahindra Marazzo. It is a compact multipurpose vehicle. At the 2019 North American International Auto Show, the Roxor and Marazzo were both on display.

Mahindra’s Design Studio created the Marazzo. It collaborated with Pininfarina, Mahindra Research Valley in Chennai, and Mahindra Automotive North America in Troy, Michigan, in the early stages of product engineering.

The Marazzo was introduced on September 3, 2018. It can accommodate 8 or 7 passengers with captain’s seats in the middle row. The rear passenger climate control is positioned on the central roof and has a diffuse throw option for quieter operation.

Mahindra will not discontinue Marazzo

There has been a significant waiting period for Mahindra’s goods recently, sometimes lasting up to over 20 months. This is especially true for new launches like the Thar, XUV700, and Scorpio-N. The Mahindra Marazzo is one of the vehicles whose production had to be reduced as part of this agreement to meet demand.

The Mahindra Marazzo, first introduced in 2018, received about $200 million in development funding. With a 6-speed manual gearbox, the 1.5-liter diesel engine that powers the Marazzo produces 121 horsepower and 300 Nm of torque.

The Honda Mobilio, Toyota Innova, Renault Lodgy, and other vehicles were competitors in the segment in which the Marazzo was introduced. The Mobilio and the Lodgy were gradual.

Phased out in India. Yet, the Marazzo continued as one of the few MPVs offered for sale in the country. Despite the company’s claims, Marazzo has only sold a few hundred units. Also, it has not received the positive feedback from customers it hoped for. According to projections, just 1,000 units of the Marazzo MPV will be sold in 2022.

Rajesh Jejurikar, Executive Director, Auto & Farm Sectors, explained in response to rumors that Mahindra had dropped the Marazzo:

The manufacturer “only slowed down the production of the MPV and has not discontinued it.”

Mahindra prioritizes production based on popular models. The XUV700 and the new Scorpio-N from the automaker were well-liked in 2022. The chip crisis and supply chain problems have also pressured companies to produce and deliver vehicles. On August 15, 2022, the business is scheduled to reveal its plans for electric vehicles.

What happened to Mahindra Marazzo in 2023?

Mahindra’s goals for the Marazzo were big. It was hoped to compete with the Toyota Innova and the Maruti Ertiga. Mahindra, though, blew it by not providing an automatic transmission option. Another opportunity lost was not including a gasoline engine, which reduced sales even more. When Mahindra realized what had happened, the Marazzo had already failed, and there was no chance of it being saved.

Mahindra Marazzo’s BS6 Phase 2 will shortly be released

Carwale.com aims to establish itself as India’s most credible and important source of automotive information. It aids customers and other industry participants. According to their website, the Mahindra Marazzo will receive a BS6 Phase 2 update shortly. Both a seven-seat and a nine-seat arrangement for the MPV will remain options.

Soon, a 1.5-litre BS6 Phase 2 diesel engine with a six-speed manual transmission will be the standard powertrain for the Marazzo. The engine develops 121 horsepower at 3,500 rpm in power mode and 98 at the same speed in economy mode.

Three variants of the redesigned Mahindra Marazzo, including the M2, M4+, and M6+, will be offered. There will be seven-seat and eight-seat arrangement variations available for all three models. The feature list from the current variations is anticipated to remain. Closer to the launch, any changes, if any, will be revealed.

Conclusion

Mahindra will release many products during the next few years. The Bolero Neo Plus might be the company’s first brand-new item, followed by the Mahindra Thar 5-door. Mahindra is expected to follow up by unveiling its ambitious EV offerings. The e8, an electric XUV700, might be the first item in this range of products.

Rajesh Jejurikar said the automaker “only slowed down the manufacturing of the MPV and has not stopped it.”
